This statement is true . the male counterpart has X and Y chromosome whereas the female counterpart has X and X chromosome . the child [ XY ]  will be a boy if the the chromosomes are X from the female and Y from the male counterparts respectively . the child [ XX ]  will be a female if the chromosomes are X from the female and X from the male counterparts respectively .
