Hey Arya

Let me try my best to clear your doubt.

✴What is Gene ?

A body is made up of cells and each and every cell has a Nucleus, which contains DNA in it.

DNA is a carrier of Genetic information.

A Gene is a sequence of DNA in a cell.

❇Now, Come to your question.

Genes contains the information to express a particular trait.

To understand this, Lets Discuss an Experiment performed by G Beadle and E Tatum.

In an Experiment performed by G Beadle and E Tatum, they proved that Single protin contains several polypeptide and each polypeptide is controlled by Separate Genes.
Hence Each gene expresses a particular trait. And this theory was named as one-gane-one- enzym.
But later, when cistron was discovered it was named as ason-Cistron-one polypeptide hypothesis.

hope it helps
