- They are bilaterally symmetrical.
- These are triploblastic and pseudocoelomates.
- Nervous system is ladder like.
- Sexes are unisexual and always show sexual dimorphism.
- They are triploplasic

- Body is unsegmented.

Characteristics of phylum nematoda :-
- Nematoda is also called Nemathelminthes. They carries three germ layers ( endoderm, ectoderm and mesoderm ) and therefore, said to be triploblastic.
- They are said to bilaterally symmetrical, i.e. both right and left of its body is said to be a mirror image of each other and are exactly same.
- They carries a flexible cuticle outside thier body.
- Some of the nematoda lives in soil and water, whereas most of these organisms are parasitic in nature.
- They don't have a respiratory and circulatory system.
- They have separate genders, i.e. they are unisexual and the female are involved in the production of eggs.
- Examples - Wuchereria ( also called Filarial Worms ), Ascaris, etc.
- These parasitic organisms are known to cause a disease called elephantiasis in which leg swells of a patient.
