Amritsar ,13th April 1919 the British general Dyer had ordered firing on innocent villager who had gathered there to attend a fair.All the exit points were blocked so that nobody could go outside

Jallianwala bagh massacre also known as Amritsar massare took place on 13 the April which was the day of baisakhi, under the command of Reginald Dyer fired machine guns into the croud of unarmed protesters,along with baisakhi pilgrims,who had gathered in Jallianwala bagh , Amritsar, Punjab . The civilians ,in the majority Sikhs , had assembled to participate in Annual baisakhi celebration, a religious and cultural festival for Punjab people . To enter , troops first blocked the entry by a tank and locked the exit . On dyer' s order ,his troops fired on the croud for 10 minutes ,directing their bullets largly towards the few open gates through which people were trying to flee.The British government released figure stating 379 dead , 1,200 wounded. Other sources place the number of dead at well over 1,000 people.
