The ‘Bangle Sellers’ is a poem written by Sarojini Naidu – freedom fighter, poet and Indian politician (1879 – 1949).

The poem depicts the life of rural women in India, especially the bangle sellers. The bangle itself, a symbol of feminine power, love, effection, respect - is described vividly. Their colours and contours are brought out beautifully in the poem and linked to happy marriages, happy lives.

As for the women who sell them, they are portrayed as strong willed yet compassionate.
