Generally acids react with metals to evolve hydrogen gas. Alcohols are neutral but then also react with sodium metal to produce hydrogen gas. Please give the reason.

As alcohol have higher affinity for a metal to be get joined in the compound thus sodium being a very reactive metal gets reacted and thus hydrogen is released.
