Hey MATE!
Gold foil is extremely thin material which is just one cell thick which makes electrons to pass easily.
But Aluminium is too thick although we observe it to be thin but it is itself made of thousands of atoms.

If the observation is taken by heavy metal like gold for e.g. Platinium silver than the observation would be same but if it would be taken by light metal like lithium than the massive alpha particles will push the nucleus and may not be deflected back
