generally liquid have low density as compare to solid but ice floats on water . Why ?

ice floats on water due to empty spaces in it which increases its volume and hence decrease its density. as ice have low density than water, therefore it floats on water

because while formation of the ice, air gets entrap in it due to which the density of ice decreases as compared to water. so ice float on water
