Genes present on same locus having a different expression are called Alleles.
Let's check an example to understand this, in Mendel's experiment with pea, each traits has two expressions, for example
- pea shape (wrinkled o round)
-Pea color (yellow or green)
These two expression of one trait is due to the alleles. They are present at a same place on a homologous chromosome.
