A ladder of length 10 m resting on wall of height 8 m slips down such that it stop at a height 6 m from the ground. Then, find the distance of the new position of foot of the ladder from the base of the wall and from the original position of the foot of ladder.

bcoz the ladder and ground are perpendicular to each other

so then the height and distance from base are adjacent and opposite sides and the ladder is 10 meter

so let's apply Pythagoras theorem

therefore 10^2 = 8^2 +x^2

100 = 64 + x^2

100-64 = x^2

36 = x^2

6^2 = x^2

therefore x = 6

the distance from base is 6 meter away

hypotenuse is 10 m

x^= 10^-6^

x^= 100-36

x^= 64

x = √64

x = 4
