Peninsula.

A peninsula is a landmass that is covered by water on most of its border.

It will be connected to the mainland from where it extends outwards.

The surrounding water of a peninsula can be generally continuous.

Although it is not necessarily that a single water body may engulf it on all sides. Peninsulas may not always be named by the description.

They can be a cape, bill, spit, headland, island promontory or a point.

India rightly fits in this description as it has seas and oceans covering it in the south on all sides whereas in the north, it is fully connected to the mainland.
