2. The rock cycle is the process by which rocks of one kind change into rocks of another kind. There are three main kinds of rock :- metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary.

Block mountain - These mountains form when faults or cracks in the earth's crust force some materials or blocks of rock up and down.

Cracks and trenches - When the plates move they collide or spread apart allowing the very hot molten material called lava to escape from the mantle. When collisions occur they produce mountains, deep underwater valleys called trenches.
