Let 0.5 bar =x

As there is only one number under bar, multiply 10

10*0.5 bar =10*x

5.5 bar = 10x
-0.5 bar = -x

5= 9x. (Bar will cancel)


5/9 =x


Then...

0.555... In rational number is 5/9

Here is your answer...

x = 0.555..... (1)
10x = 5.555.... (2)

Subtract eq. (1) from eq. (2)

10x = 5.55..
- x = 0.55...

9x = 5.00

x = 5/9
