Molecules containing rings can also have cis/trans isomers. Consider 2-methylcyclohexanol as an example. In the cis isomer, the -OH and -CH3 groups are on the same side of the ring. These are just a few examples of geometric isomers that people encounter every day and which are important in biochemistry and nutrition.
