Geometrical OpticsA-3. The view in the figure is from abovenew in the figure is from above a plane mirror suspended by a thread connected to the centre ofat point A. A scale is located 0.75 m (the distance from point A to point P) to the right of thecentre of the mirror. Initially, the plane of the mirror is parallel to the side of the scale; and the angle ofincidence of a light ray which is directed at the centre of the mirror is 30%. A small torque appred to thethread causes the mirror to turn 11.5° away from its initial position. Answer:

The distance from P to Q is 1 m

Explanation:

As we know that initially the light incident on the mirror at an angle of 30 degree

so the reflected light also move at same angle with the normal

Now when we turn the mirror by some angle then it's reflected light will move at double angle

So here we can say that reflected light will make angle with the horizontal as

\theta = 30 + 2(11.5)

\theta = 53^o

now we can say that

\frac{d}{0.75} = tan53

d = \frac{4}{3} \times 0.75

d = 1m
