By the given condition, (2, 1) is the mid point of a segment joining the points (x, y) and (8, 7)

Then,

 \frac{x + 8}{2} = 2 \\ \\ \implies x + 8 = 4 \\ \\ \implies x = 4 - 8 = - 4

and

 \frac{y + 7}{2} = 1 \\ \\ \implies y + 7 = 2 \\ \\ \implies y = 2 - 7 = - 5
