Let, x be the distance of George from school & y be the distance of sarita from school.

Now from eq. ( 2 )

—› y = { x + 5/10 } km

—› y = { 3/10 + 5/10 } km ....[ from ( 1 ) ]

—› y = { [3+5]/10 } km

—› y = { 8/10 } km

—› y = { 4/5 } km OR

—› y = 0.8 km

Hence, Sarita 4/5 km or 0.8 km far live from the school.
