in the first one we have the resistors connected in series and then connected in parallel

there fore Rs=R1+R2  =100Ω+xΩ

and 25Ω+75Ω=100Ω

now they are connected in parallel

therefore \frac{1}{R1}+\frac{1}{R2} = 1/100 + 1/100+x = 1/20

after calculation x= 75Ω
