Ghost Town
Bhangarli is a town that lies in the state of Rajasthan, between Jaipur and Ahvar It was built in the
17th century by Madhe Singh, the younger brother of General Man Smgir, who was one of the nine
genis in Emperor Akbar's court
According to a legend, before constructing the town, Madhe Smgh sought permission from Gurs
Bala Nnth, a sage who used to meditate there. The sage gave him permission but warned him, "If the
shadows of your palace touch me, then the whole city shall collapse
Bhangarh flourished until one day, ignorant of the gun's warning, one of
Madho Singh's descendents built a polace that was so high that
its shadows reached the sage's retreat and, in na time at all the
town was devastated.
People who tried to build houses in Bhangarh thereafter, found
that the roofs collapsed for no rhyme or reason.
No one lives in Bhangarh today. The only people who visit the town are tourists who go there to see
