Answer:

The story was narrated to Ganesh by a young man, Mahendra. He had to keep moving from one place to another because of his job.He was accompanied by his cook Iswaran. Ishwaran was a great cook and a narrator. Even when he was narrating the smallest of incidents, Ishwaran would always work in suspense and a surprise ending into the account. Because of this Mahendra would listen to Ishwaran's story uncritically. One evening Ishwaran launched into a most garish account involving tye supernatural. He went on to narrate how he sometimes saw ghosts at night. Hearing his description of the ghosts Mahendra shivered and interrupted rather sharply saying Ishwaran that he is crazy and ghosts are all a figment of his imagination and they don't exist....
