What is a centripetal force ?
A centripetal force is a force which acts towards the centre of a circular motion . It is also called centre-seeking force.
Examples of centripetal force
(i) Driving a car in a circular path or road .
(ii) Rotation of Earth .
(iii) Rotation of any object about its axis .
(iv) A merry go round
(v) Rotation of electrons around the nucleus .
(vi) A spinning top rotating about its axis .

By this we can get that centripetal force in the sense a force on an object on a circular path that keeps object moving on the path...
