In the earlier times, there used to be a mentality of people was girls are bane and boys are boon, i.e. if you had a girl child then it is a very distressing news because when her marriage time would come, you would have to give a lot of money away (dowry) and vice-a-versa the case of boys.

But in the present time, even though a lot of advancement, development, and awareness have come still many people are in the mentality. But as girls are becoming independent in society, the dowry system is becoming extinct.

In some remote places, people are still into dowry and against the girl child. But as the girls are becoming the stepping stones of the future, many people have developed a perspective of having a girl child is boon, a blessing. Because we come to this world from a woman only and a woman is more sharp-minded.
