We have 3 separate branches of government: The Legislative, Executive and the Judiciary.

Although there are three distinctly separate branches of governments in India, these organs do not work in isolation. They work These organs work in accordance with each other to ensure that the government functions smoothly.

Here are some reasons as to why we have 3 separate organs:

- The sheer amount of workload cannot be handled by one institution only;  hence we have 3 branches to increase the productivity and efficiency of the system.

- Each of these organs keep the powers of the others in check. This prevents certain branches from taking  arbitrary decisions.
