Parathyroid glands are four small glands of the endocrine system which regulate the calcium in our bodies. Parathyroid glands are located in the neck behind the thyroid where they continuously monitor and regulate blood calcium levels.

Parathyroid gland is present in our throat.
It releases parathormone.
It's function is to maintain calcium and phosphorus levels in our body. ( this function is same as calcitonin hormone released by thyroid gland)
Deficiency of parathormone can cause weakness in bones and teeth due to disturbed levels of calcium in our body.
