Variations are the result of struggle with other organisms in an environment for food, shelter and other resources which make the organisms more adaptive and strong compared to other struggling organisms who fail to adapt or dominate in the struggling environment which leads to no occurrence of variation in them. So, if an organism gets variation that means during struggling for natural resources it was able to survive by adapting the environment with less resources n adaptation leads to occurrence of variations in body n those variation help u survive in unfavourable conditions. So, variations are important for species because they make the organisms more adaptive towards unfavourable conditions or in simple words make them a better version of themselves.
