5) Robert Hooke in the year 1665 observed soft bark from Oak tree under magnifying device he made. He observed that the cork resembled the structure of honeycomb consisting of many empty spaces like structure. He thought the work was made up by very small cavities. He called cavities as 'cell'. In Latin 'cell' means little room.

Answer:Cell was first discovered by Robert Hooke in a dead cork cell(Cork is a substance wjich comes from tree).When he observed it carefully he saw small structure like a honey comb he called this structure as a cell ( in latin meaning little room)
It was discovered in the year 1665 with the help of his self designed microscope. Later A.V Leauvenhoek found the improved microscope and discovered cells in bacteria.
