The character of grandpa(his name was Dawson)  and Jo seems to be taken from the story called the "Star struck" written by Stephanie Costley.

In this story, there are many references of conversation between these two characters. At one time, they were talking about how she could be able to learn cooking from a boy and at that point they were busy talking about thanksgiving meals.

Ms Margaret was present at the spot. Throughout the time, Jo and her grandfather i.e. Dawson was busy munching a cake that was indeed very delicious. Chase replied after this that he would leave an early hour on the upcoming Sunday.

Answer:

In the story of "Little Woman," the two characters Jo (Josephine March, one in all the March sisters) and gramps (gramps Laurence had their 1st encounter once Jo was within the library).

Explanation:

Jo was within the library once she saw Grandpa's portrait over there. She was speech herself, commenting on totally different aspects of the picture. She did not apprehend that but gramps had been standing behind her and overheard everything. Jo said that the portrait of Theodore's gramps was alright; however, the appearance of the person within the picture did not match up to his own grandfathers' appearance. Once Jo distinguished that gramps was there she felt quite embarrassed
