Wind is an active agent of erosion in the desert regions. Wind sometimes erode the lower parts of rocks more than the upper parts resulting in the formation of mushroom rocks. Such rocks have narrower base and wider top. When winds blow at a great speed, they lift and transport materials from one place to the other. During this process, the sand falls and get deposited forming low hill kind of structures. These are known as sand dunes.
