Brain is the control system of our body. It is situated in our skull. It has grooves and ridges in it. It consists of around 100 billion nerve cells. It is divided into 3 parts:

Cerebrum: It is the largest part of the brain situated above cerebellum. It controls reasoning, intelligence, speech, etc.

Cerebellum: located below the cerebrum. It controls the coordination of voluntary movements. It is affected by alcohol.

Medulla Oblongata: Located in the vertebral column and continues as the spinal cord. Its function is to regulate involuntary actions such as respiration, sneezing, coughing, etc.

Hope it helps ..

Structure and function of the brain of man is described below :

  • The forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain, each with several regions, make up the three primary components of the brain.
  • The cerebrum, sometimes referred to as the cerebral cortex, is the biggest component of the human brain and is responsible for higher-order mental processes including reasoning and taking action.
  • The grey surface, slightly thicker than our thumb, is made up of nerve cells. Signals are transmitted between nerve cells in different regions of the brain and body through white nerve fibres that are below the skin.
  • Our ability to reason, organise, plan, speak, move, make facial expressions, serial task, find solutions, control inhibition, be spontaneous, undertake and personality behaviours, pay attention, remember, and control emotions is all related to the frontal lobe, which is located just below the forehead.
  • Near the centre of the brain, the midbrain is situated above the hindbrain and under the cerebral cortex.
  • It consists of many nuclei and fasciculi as well as the tectum, tegmentum, cerebral aqueduct, and cerebral peduncles. The midbrain's main function is to serve as a kind of relay station for our auditory and visual systems.
  • The thalamus, hypothalamus, amygdala, and hippocampus are located in it, which is buried within the cerebrum.
  • The major function of the thalamus is to transmit sensory data from other regions of the brain to the cerebral cortex.
  • "The Cerebellum" With its two hemispheres and heavily folded area, the cereb, or "small brain," resembles the neocortex.
  • It is linked to the control and coordination of the heart, lungs, and vasomotor centres as well as with attitude, posture, and activity.
  • Brain stem: Below the limbic system is where you'll find the brain stem. It is in charge of essential life processes like breathing, heartbeat, and blood pressure. The midbrain, brain stem, and medulla are the components of the brain stem.

Hence, this is the structure and function of a human brain.
