Dry simple fruits are classified into legumes, follicles, nuts, samaras, achenes, capsules, caryopses and schizocarps.

Aggregate fruits are formed from the joining of multiple carpels, as in raspberry, strawberry and blackberry.

Multiple fruits are formed from inflorescence, as in case of pineapples, mulberry and breadfruit.
