The quit India movement of 1942 was the greatest movement after the great rising of 1857. In terms of India becoming ultimately independent, the quit India movement certainly advanced the cause to the greatest possible extent. It infused new life and spirit in the people. One could feel the coming of freedom. People displayed great courage.
