Marco Polo (1254 – January 8–9, 1324)was a Venetian merchant, explorer, and writer. His travels are recorded in Livres de merveillis du monde (Book of the Marvels of the World, also known as The Travels of Marco Polo, c. 1300), a book that described to Europeans the wealth and great size of China, its capital Peking, and other Asian cities and countries.

  1. Marco Polo was the Italian traveller of the 13th century. He travelled to China and stayed there for 17years.
  2. He introduced Asia, especially China to Europe.
  3. He wrote about the flora and fauna, tradition,culture and trade system of Asia.
  4. This led to the development of trade system between Europe and Asia.
