ANSWER:-

Atoms are the ultimately smallest particles beyond which further division of this particles will not be possible. First,these particles were named as 'Paramanu' by an indian philosopher Maharshi kanad. Another indian philosopher named Pakudha Katyayama,said that these particles normally exist in combined forms.

Around the same era,ancient greek philosophers-Democritus and leucippus called this indivisible particles as atoms(which means indivisible).
