She was very intelligent and perceptive, and wanted to become a writer. She loved Peter and had strong feelings for him. She even had to face opposition from her parents in this regard but she kept on meeting him. Anne was a good reader. Though in hiding she kept reading something or the other every day to continue her studies. She translated chapters, write down the vocabulary words and use to work hard on math problems even though she didn't like math. She enjoyed shorthand but it later left it as her eyesight grew weak and she could not visit an ophthalmologist as long as she was hiding in the secret annexe. She read the biographies of Galileo, Galili and Franz Liszt. She
