Kate Adams was the second wife of Helen's father Arthur Adams n he was much elder than her though she patiently looked after Helen and took a great care of her when she was contracted by debilitating illness . Helen in her book story of my life says about how her mother affectionately tries to sooth her pain when she was suffering from pain. she was a source of tenderness and love for Helen. she often used to stay up late at night and took care of Helen as she used to cry.she was worried about Helen's well being and she nurtured her daughters sense of learning by making her know about everyday life things.
Helen was deeply attached to her mother and she was someone whom Helen worshiped and admired deeply.Helen was envious of her sister for sharing her mothers affection. the bond between Helen and kate was very deep
