Because she always wore a white saari and had silver hair that covered her face, the narrator describes her as a "winter landscape in the mountains." Her expression is calm, pleasant, and comforting.

She is also unable to assist the narrator with her academics due to a lack of science and English knowledge. She was disappointed to learn that God and the Bible were not taught at the narrator's school. She also believes that music was not intended for gentle folk.

When the narrator arrived from abroad. She was so overjoyed that she gathered all the women in her community and began singing about the soldiers' return.
