He is very friendly guy. He is very much determined to help Lencho. He had given part of salary to Lencho to help him to get out of crisis.
He has been successful in his act of charity. Even though he got to know that Lencho's wish would not be fulfilled he had tried his best to not shake his faith in God. He is a guy who is very helpful

The postmaster was a big, friendly guy. He was a thoughtful and loving human being who was astounded by Lencho's level of faith in God. Although Lencho's letter to God amused him at first, he got serious and wanted to help Lencho because he didn't want his faith to be shattered.
The postmaster did a good deed and would definitely want recognition and appreciation. However to lencho, it was God who sent him the money, not the postmaster. When the postmaster signed the letter as God, at that very point he should have realized that he will not be getting any recognition.
