NaOH:

I. When Phenolphthalein(HpH) indicator is added to Sodium Hydroxide, the colour of the indicator changes to Pink.

II. When Methyl orange(MeOH) indicator is added to Sodium Hydroxide, the colour of the indicator changes to Yellow.

HCl:

I. When Phenolphthalein indicator is added to Hydrochloric acid, the colour of the indicator remains Colourless.

II. When Methyl orange indicator is added to Hydrochloric acid, the colour of the indicator remains Dark Orange or Reddish coloured.

Conclusion:

As, Phenolphthalein is a weak acid, And it changes its colour in NaOH only and not in HCl; This shows that NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) is a base (Strong Alkali), and HCl being an Acid (Strong Acid).
