We can apply Hinsberg's test to distinguish between primary and secondary amines.
Primary amine ( ethylamine) reacts with benzenesulphonyl chloride forming ethyl benzenesulphonamide, which is soluble in alkali.
Secondary amine ( diethyl amine) reacts with benzenesulphonyl chloride forming diethyl benzenesulphonamide, which is insoluble in alkali.
