a. Ghana after gaining Independence in 1957, from the British colonial regime embarked on the path of Democracy with Kwame Nkrumah being elected as the Prime Minister and the President. a. India after gaining independence in 1947, from the British also adopted a democratic form of government based on Universal Adult Franchise, with democratically elected Political leadership.
b. In Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah got himself elected for life,which was against the very spirit of a democratic rule.
b. India established a proper system of elections to take place after every five years, this is to ensure peaceful transition of government ,to ensure participation of the people in the governance of the country and to offer choice to the people

Nkrumah was later overthrown by military and the country presents a mixed record of democracy, with elections taking place in 1969 and the government again being overthrown by a military coup in 1972. This was not the case with c. India, barring the two years of emergency that is 1975-77, India continues to remain one of the largest and vibrant democracy.
d. It was in 1993, the transition took place from a military rule to a democracy, followed by constitutional amendment which provided for separation of powers, the Executive President to be elected based on universal franchise, resulting in democratic elections.
d. This was not the case with India, infact, it provides one of the best examples of a sustained democracy among the Third World Countries.
