Somal lives in small village of District Panna. This is situated on the bank of Ken river. Somal used to go there every year in summer vacations. Panna Tiger Reserve park is about 3 KM from here. Sometimes, animals from the reserve are crossed to this village.

Mostly, cultivation is the source of income in this village. People used to work in field however, many times animals from Tiger reserve Park harm their crop. This is one of the Tourist Place but needs some improvement in infrastructure. Somal Dada ji is still living there and working in fields. Somal used to go fields with his Dada ji to help him during vacations.

Somal is inaccessible from the world round it.

The adjacent bus stop is at least ten miles away and the town is sporadically occupied with less than three hundred people.

The fact the population of Somal is so minor that the writer Narayan has suggested that the small village is a difficult place to live in comfort.

The place lacks the availability of all sorts of modern amenities at hand.
