That day everything had to be as quiet as Sundy morning. Through the window Franz saw his classmates, already in thier places and M. Hamel walking up and down with his terrible iron rular under his arm. Franz had to open the door and go in before everyday.
But nothing happend. M. Hamel saw him and said very kindly, " Go to your place quickly, little Franz. We can start without you"
When little Franj notice that thier teacher had on his beautiful green coat, his frilled shirt, and the little black cap, all embroidered, that he never except on inspection and prize days. Besides, the whole school so strange and solemn.
