Nagaland situated in northeast India is a hilly area which houses many tribes.

Some festivals celebrated by the tribes of Naga

  • The Tsungremong festival
  • The Tuluni festival
  • The Hornbill festival
  • Ngada Festival
  • Hega festival
  • Mim kut festival

The Tsungremong festival: It is a festival of blessing in which the Ao tribe members gather together and seek the blessing of God in their harvest.

The tribal youth dressed in traditional dresses perform folk dances to the folk songs.

The Tuluni festival: It is celebrated for seven days by the Sumi tribe, to offer prayers to God at the beginning of the fruitful season.

When the dry season is over and the new season starts the Tuluni festival is organised to mark rich harvest and sharing.

The Hornbill festival: It is a great celebration by all the tribes of the Nagaland. It is celebrated to foster the culture, tradition, and unity among the various tribes of Naga.

It is celebrated on the first week of December every year and contains folk dance, folk music, games, artwork, fashion and beauty shows.
