Give a few examples where air resistance can be used to our advantage and a few examples where we have to use technology to overcome the forces we feel due to air resistance in transportation.

It's a quite folly of physics to give us 'air resistance' no?

The answer is. Everything in physics which you seem to identify as a problem is itself a solution.

You're talking about advantages of air resistance

1) When you dive from a height with a parachute, the cloths spread out and because of air resistance applying on the parachute from below, helps to slower down the rate of falling to land safely

2) Forget about the HARD TYPE of physics and just return to your home.

You take a blanket. You have to arrange it in a square form and put it into its place, you give strokes to it and then you arrange. Air resistance is also applying on the blanket that's why it gets balanced.

Okay so, How to overcome air resistance by technology.

A car suffers air resistance when going to the place where the heavy wind came from.

Simple thing

You may have seen in modern cars that structures are build at the top-back side of the car those are called Air ventilators and hoods of the car are made as flat as possible to let all the air pass through the car and not fall on the car to stop it.

Aerodynamics is yet another way to reduce air resistance
