Cellulose is a carbohydrate hat can be digested by herbivores or plant eating animals but not by human beings.

This is because, herbivores possess a sac- like structure which is present in the middle of their small intestine and large intestine where certain bacteria act upon the cellulose and break them into simpler form.

This mechanism is not present in human beings so they cannot digest cellulose.
