Give a pictorial representation to represent the following:

Given : 7/4  , 5/3  , 7/6

To find : Represent pictorially

Solution:

7/4

=  (4 + 3)/4  

= 1  +  3/4

= (3 + 2)/3

= 1 + 2/3

= 1  + 1/6

Solution:

Refer to an attachment for pictorial representation.

  • when the numerator is big and the denominator is small it is the improper fraction.
  • All the given fractions are improper fractions. we need to change them into mixed fractions.

(i) 7/4

divide 7 by 4, we will get quotient as 1, and remainder as 3

 =  >  \dfrac{7}{4}   = 1  \dfrac{3}{4}

(ii) 5/3

divide 5 by 3, we will get quotient as 1, and remainder as 2

 =  >  \dfrac{5}{3}  = 1 \dfrac{2}{3}

(iii) 7/6

divide 7 by 4, we will get quotient as 1, and remainder as 1

 =  >  \dfrac{7}{6}  = 1 \dfrac{1}{6}
