Raisins swell up because of the molecule of liquid move lower concentration to higher concentration....this phenomenon is called endo osmosis......

Why do raisins swell up when they are put in water, saltwater and sugar water?
When raisins are soaked in water, they swell. All this is due to the process of osmosis. The water molecules pass the cell membrane of the raisins and the raisins thus get swollen.
