(i) Ionic compounds have a high melting point.
(ii) Inert gases do not form ions.

(i) Ionic compounds have ions held strongly by electrostatic forces of attraction. These strong forces need more energy to be broken apart. Hence, they have high melting point. (ii) Inert gases do not form ions because they have completely filled octet.
