DNA molecules are very long but are packed into compact structures called chromosomes. Each DNA molecule consists of two twisted strands of bases that form a shape called a double helix. The two strands are held together by hydrogen bonds between pairs of bases.

Hydrogen bonds between complementary base pairs hold the two strands of DNA together. ... Yes DNA is double helix. The two strands are held together by hydrogen bonding between bases of two strands.G: C contains triple bond and A:T contains double bond.

hey dear mate :-
here's your answer .
The DNA is arranged in the double strand manner for the arrangement of it's METARIAls like adenine , guanine ,thymine and cytosine the double helix structure helps the DNA in the attachment of the two chromatids .
hope it helps dear ,☺
