Every person who wishes to contest an election has to fill a nomination form and give some money as security deposit. Recently, a new system of declaration has been introduced on direction from the Supreme Court. Every candidate has to make a legal declaration, giving full details of:

Serious criminal cases pending against the candidate

Details of the assets and liabilities of the candidate and his or her family

Educational qualifications of the candidate.

This information has to be made public. This provides an opportunity to the voters to make their decision on the basis of the information provided by the candidates. Educational qualifications are not necessary for the candidates.

the answer is:-

question:-

Give a reason for the supreme court making it mandatory for all candidates contesting for elections to show their property details and past cases against them.

answer:-

A main and compulsory reason for candidates to hand over their property details and past cases against them was because it shows clearly ( if honest papers are submitted not fake) that the work the particular person do is good or bad and it also shows that whether he has stopped doing bad work now but had he done it in the past or not.

Any documents are usually made for the purpose of twirking into a person's past reactions or works. That's why the details are necessary but until now many people hand it to the government ( contestants of elections) but we can't beleive that they are true or not

hope it helps you.....
